Picture is too dark or
underexposed.
Flash is not on. Turn on the flash (page 11).
Subject is too far away
for the flash to be
effective.
Move so there is no more than 7.9 ft
(2.4 m) between the camera and the
subject.
Subject is in front of a
bright light (backlit).
Use Fill flash (page 11) or change your
position so light is not behind the
subject.
Not enough light. Increase Exposure Compensation
(
page 12).
Camera does not
recognize SD/MMC
card.
Card may not be
SD/MMC certified.
Purchase a certified SD/MMC card.
Card may be corrupt. Reformat the card (page 16).
Caution: Formatting a card deletes all
pictures and videos, including
protected files.
Card is not properly
inserted in camera.
Insert a card into the slot, then push
to seat (
page 7).
Camera freezes up
when a card is
inserted or
removed.
Camera detected an
error when the card was
inserted or removed.
Turn the camera off, then back on.
Make sure the camera is turned off
before inserting or removing a card.
Memory card full Storage is full. Insert a new card (page 7), transfer
pictures to the computer (page 28), or
delete pictures (page 18).
Maximum number of files
or folders is reached (or
other directory concern).
Transfer pictures to the computer
(
page 28), then format the card or
internal memory (page 16).
