Picture is too
light.
The subject was too
close for flash.
Move so there is at least 2 ft
(0.6 m) between camera and subject.
The light sensor is
covered.
Hold the camera so your hands or other
objects do not cover the light sensor (page i).
Too much light. Decrease Exposure Compensation (page 18).
Auto exposure was
not achieved.
To take the best possible pictures, press the
Shutter button halfway and hold. When
the ready light glows green, press the Shutter
button the rest of the way down to take
the picture.
Picture is not
clear.
The lens is dirty. Clean the lens (page 52).
Subject too close
when taking picture.
Move so there is at least 23.6 in. (60 cm)
between the camera and the subject, or at
least 5 in. (13 cm) at Wide in Close-up mode.
Subject or the camera
moved while the
picture was taken.
Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or
use a tripod.
Auto-focus was not
achieved.
To take the best possible pictures, press the
Shutter button halfway and hold. When
the ready light glows green, press the Shutter
button the rest of the way down to take
the picture. (If the orange light blinks, release
the Shutter button and recompose picture.)
Camera is in Close-up
mode.
Use Close-up mode when subject is 5-28 in.
(13-70 cm) from the lens in Wide Angle; 9-28
in. (22-70 cm) in Telephoto.
The camera
does not
recognize
SD/MMC card.
The card may not be
SD/MMC certified.
Purchase a certified SD/MMC card.
The card may be
corrupt.
Reformat the card (page 22).
Caution: Formatting deletes all pictures and
videos, including protected files.
Card is not properly
inserted in camera.
Insert a card into the slot, then push to seat
(page 7).
